A family band that almost never
plays together as a family band, the Trenwith
Boys consists of Paul Trenwith (Dad) playing
banjo, Jeremy Trenwith (guitar), Sam Trenwith
(guitar) and Tim Trenwith (bass).
Paul has played banjo since the mid-1960’s,
mostly as part of the Hamilton County Bluegrass
Band, and more recently has played a variety
of instruments in the Morrinsville Country Music
Club band.
Each of his sons has played music in the Gateway
Church worship team in Hamilton; Jeremy played
bass with the HCBB for several years, and now
plays bass in musical theatre around the Waikato
as well as in the Hamilton band ‘Sir Brown’;
Sam teaches drums and guitar in several Hamilton
schools as well as playing (together with Tim)
in the popular bands ‘Late 80’s
Mercedes’ and ‘Radiator’;
and Tim is now the regular bass player with
the HCBB, having completed two ‘Highway
of Legends’ tours and the ‘Topp
Twins Summer Hoedown Tour’. Fourth son
Mike also plays in his brother’s bands,
but missed out on this one by being in the UK
on his OE.
Sam is well-known as a songwriter, with successes
in the APRA Silver Scroll awards and the recent
‘Anthem In Black’ competition for
the 2012 Olympics.
Their music in this show will reflect their
wide musical tastes, but won’t be too
complicated so Paul can join in.
