Born in Christchurch in 1976,
Phil Doublet started learning guitar at the
age of seven and is now regarded as one of New
Zealand's finest musicians.
He first started entering country music awards
at the age of nine and “cleaned up"
practically every Instrumental Award there is
to mention until 1996. Phil also managed to
do exceptionally well vocally, and be placed
first Overall Junior/Intermediate and Senior
in numerous awards throughout the Country.
Early in January 1999, Phil took his talent
to Tamworth, Australia and took out two Instrumental
awards.
Phil and his fiancee Lana then moved to Sydney,
Australia in 2003 where Phil joined “Luke
O’Shea and Medicine Wheel” winning
the “Best Band” Category at the
“TIARAS”, placing in the top 5 finalists
at the Tamworth Golden Guitar Awards and the
OzMusic awards in Sydney, and the top 10 Finalists
at the ARIAS. Their third single “Ragged
Bloody Heroes” reached Number One on the
CMC charts in Australia.
Phil, now 35, is now back home for a spell,
playing in the acoustic blues/roots duo with
John Sanchez-Lloyd, and tutoring guitar.
Even though Phil's roots are with Country Music
he is a wizard at practically every style there
is to play. His passions are Country, Blues,
R ‘n B and all forms of rock music. Phil
Doublet is a rare talent and is an absolutely
remarkable Guitar player.
