Lana Mackay has had a love of
music and singing from a young age and she now
has fifteen years of singing experience as a
performer. Her regular appearances at the monthly
Gore Country Music Club have helped develop
her singing, guitar playing abilities and her
confidence.
Winning the Junior Gold Guitar Awards as a
twelve year old, performing in Tamworth the
following year and being in a Junior Entertainer
of the Year finalist three times (coming runner-up
once) have been highlights as a Junior competitor.
Lana has since had numerous wins in awards
across the country as an Intermediate competitor
including winning sections at the New Zealand
Gold Guitar Awards. The icing on the cake for
all her determination and hard work was winning
the Senior Gold Guitar Award Overall title in
2008, which resulted in invaluable songwriting
and recording experiences in Australia.
Along with singing, Lana has a strong passion
for show jumping her four horses, playing hockey
and rugby, and spending time with family and
friends. After living in the close-knit rural
community of Riversdale in Southland for all
her life, Lana recently made the move to Dunedin
in order to further her goal of becoming a primary
school teacher.
