Chris was raised in South Auckland
in the ‘50s and ‘60s by a mother
who wrote poetry and an army mechanic father
who was a talented pianist. He played in his
first gigging band at 13 years of age and hasn’t
stopped playing music since.
Chris lived in Tamworth Australia in’69-’70
before it was the country music capital of Australia
but it was starting to happen. Moving back to
NZ he went to Wellington and played in “Movement”
pioneering the glam rock era in the lower North
Island. Shifting back to Auckland, Chris toured
extensively with various road shows before joining
the legendary band “Human Instinct”.
This was followed by a long stint with Auckland
icons “Salty Dogg” and after returning
from 4 years in Sydney he joined rock legend
Larry Morris.
Moving to Tauranga in ’83, Chris formed
a close relationship with Ritchie Pickett. These
two played in many guises together and shared
their passion for country music. With encouragement
from Ritchie, Chris started writing songs and
performing solo. He has been doing this as well
as various band projects up to the present day.
